Philip Trammell – Patient Philanthropy in an Impatient World

02.02.2022 @ 18:00 - 19:00

On February 2, 18:00-19:o0 GMT,  we are excited to welcome Philip Trammell, a Research Associate in Economics at Oxford University’s Global Priorities Institute and a Management Committee member of the Patient Philanthropy Fund.

If you took the £1,000 that you were going to donate and instead invest in the stock market, you might have £125,000 to give away in 100 years based on 5% average growth. Might such patient spending schedule enable an impartial philanthropist to do more good than they otherwise would have? Our speaker discuss this proposition and introduce us the newly launched Patient Philanthropy Fund.

The event is co-hosted with the Effective Altruism Society and will be held in-person in the Marshall Building’s MAR.1.08. Please, bring a valid ID and a negative lateral flow test that was taken within the last 48 hours to be admitted.

Sen Club aims to provide an engaging and interactive platform for students to have a taste of the rich field of academia and research. Please note that opinions expressed are not the opinions of the School, nor of the LSE Department of Economics.

Can’t wait to see you!
